Latest housing stock figures show a modest increase in 2017 – 2018 for England.

222,190 properties were added to the housing stock, up by 4,850 from 2016 -2017’s figures and bringing it back to pre-crash levels.

The housing supply: net additional dwellings statistics, also known as ‘net additions’, track changes in the size of dwelling stock due to:

  • new builds
  • conversions (for example, a house to a number of flats)
  • changes of use (for example, a residential house to an office)
  • demolitions
