The latest Community Life Survey, released today, highlights how much our society has changed and how we’re more likely to chat with a friend hundreds of miles away than to talk to our nextdoor neighbour.

The more neighbours we have, the less likely we are to talk to them too, as rural communities are much more likely to stop for a chat. On the plus, we’re no less neighbourly in 2018 than in 2017 and we believe that we’re a fraction more community spirited.

We may still be loving our neighbours but don’t go asking them for a cup of sugar as the downward trend in borrowing and doing favours continues to decline.
