“It’s The Holy Grail of conversions” according to Countrywide’s Chief Digital Officer, Alex Bailes.
“We’re pleased to announce that our travel time tool has achieved an impressive 300% increase in conversions” says Zoopla’s Chief Product Officer, Matt Cohan.
The logic behind TravelTime is relevant to all of us, the only surprise is that nobody thought of it sooner.
Putting travel time into daily life: It takes me 20 minutes to get to my nearest town in the middle of the day, weekends and evenings. It takes me nearer 45 minutes if I need to travel in peak traffic. I’ve never once worked out how many miles it is from my door to where I need to get to. I only measure the time it takes for me to get there and I’m sure you do the same.
Traditional property search tools don’t take travel time into account when providing results. They assume we all travel by crow. A nice thought but I don’t think there’s one out there that could actually lift me!
By only measuring miles, traditional search results provide 50% irrelevant results and miss out on another 50% of results that could be ideal new homes for prospective buyers or renters.
People move home to improve their quality of life and travel time is often high up on their agenda. Cutting your daily commute by a mere 15 minutes each way could give you back a whopping 2.5hrs per week / 10hrs per month. That’s a whole 12 working days every year!!
Today’s new generation of property search options sees TravelTime take into account variables such as time of day, peak times and speed limits, making search results more relevant to customers and also opening up more sales opportunities.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that the majority of vendors are also house hunters and more often than not, they will be searching for a new property within your catchment area. It’s quite common for vendors to sign up with an agent after spotting a property they’re interested in on their website. I’ve certainly done that as it has helped the process move along more swiftly.
It therefore comes as no shock that Countrywide are rolling out TravelTime nationwide. Why don’t you join them and add TravelTime to your property search tool kit?
