Microsoft Outlook 2010, although often used mainly as an e-mail application, it also includes a calendar, task manager, contact manager, note taking, a journal and web browsing.
It can be used as a stand-alone application, or can work with Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SharePoint Server for multiple users in an organisation, such as shared mailboxes and calendars, Exchange public folders, SharePoint lists and meeting schedules. There are third-party add-on applications that integrate Outlook with devices such as BlackBerry mobile phones and with other software like Office & Skype internet communication.
Finding and Setting Your Preferences
Open Outlook 2010 and then click on "File" from within the top ribbon. Then click on "Add Account"
The "Add New Account" window will open, click "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" radio button and then click "Next".
Select "Internet E-mail" and then click on "Next".
Complete the next form exactly as illustrated. Use the incoming and outgoing mailserver addresses that The Property Jungle provide you, together with the username and password supplied.
Click on "More Settings", then "Outgoing Server". Ensure that the top tick box and radio button are ticked. Then click "OK".
You will be asked to make a decision. If you want to create a new Outlook Data File for this account so that it has its own unique Inbox tick "New Outlook Data File". This will create a new account name for you, usually calling itself the email address name.
However if want to have new emails arrive into an existing Inbox click "Existing Outlook Data File". Outlook will then ask you where that file is located. The path is usually C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Find the data file and select it.
If you would like to test these settings leave the box "Test Account Settings" by clicking the "Next" button and then press the "Next" button. This will perform a test. If you have done this all correctly two green checkmarks will tell you communication with the server is fine and you are ready to use your email account.
